Summer’s coming and there’s a lot to look forward to. Here on the plateau there’s a new kid in town, Cashiers Valley Smokehouse, owned and operated by hospitality specialists and restauranteers, Brian Peterken, Jr. and Jon Caddell. Many will recognize their names as the current owners of ever popular Slab Town Pizza, so they are not new to the restaurant business nor the area.
Their roots in the community go back even further as they were the original owners of the highly successful Cornucopia Restaurant for 38 years. They know a thing or two about good food and a welcoming atmosphere, and they’re excited that they can bring barbeque back to the area.
When the location at 281 US 64 West that had previously housed a barbeque restaurant came available, Brian and Jon saw a great opportunity to breathe new life into the location and began extensive refreshing and renovating of the premises. They envisioned a community gathering place where folks of all ages can gather to enjoy traditional barbeque fare and enjoy good times with their friends and neighbors.
Cashiers Valley Smokehouse is the perfect casual spot to kick back and enjoy a great meal of honest to goodness pit cooked barbeque pork, chicken or beef, with homemade sauces for every taste. Their home cooked sides will make you reminisce of by gone days with Sunday dinner tables laden with vegetables, homemade potato salad, slaw and baked beans. By all means save room for dessert made by Valley Bakery, our sister establishment and the perfect sweet ending game.
Plans are to be open 7 days a week seasonally for lunch, dinner and takeout. Weekends promise to be an especially fun time as they will often have live bluegrass music. Relax with good food, music and laughter, what better way to spend a summer evening?
